July 27, 2010Hello April, please slow down.
April 13, 2010Greetings earthlings. This is your fearless photography leader. I have brought you another blog post. However, it is only a small update. One day, after I return from conquering the universe, I will post long posts full of pictures from my adventures.
Now for the updates:
1. My birthday was on the 10th of April. Yay for being 20! No pictures were taken of me on that day. Instead, I took these:
2. I have consumed enough Starbucks this month to fill approximately three swimming pools. True story.
3. I filed my taxes. That was fun!
4. Next week I am getting on a plane and flying to Seattle to shoot a wedding. If the plane crashes, I’m sure I’ll be pretty mad. The wedding is going to be AMAZING.
4. My friend Heidi is getting married in a few weeks and we have been coming up with crazy, amazing, boomsauce ideas. We’re as giddy as school girls. No, really.
5. I think that it’s amazing that you are reading this blog post right now. Thanks for coming back, unless this is your first time. If this is your first time, I really hope you stay! Oh, and if your face hasn’t made it to the world wide web via my blog, shoot me an email! ;)
6. This is the last update. Although I have been absent from my duties as a photographer, those duties being to post pictures for you, I have been having the most amazing year OF MY LIFE. God is good and he is showing me the passions and desires in my heart and he is constantly reminding me how lucky I have been to capture the incredible connections like the ones above. If it weren’t for all of you, my clients, my friends, my life, I would probably not view life the same way. Thanks :)
Until next time, go outside and run through the wildflowers, lay in the sun, or say ‘Hi’ to someone you’ve never met before.
Isn’t life beautiful?

The Burrow Wedding
January 29, 2010When I look at these pictures my heart practically explodes. To me, these photos are the essence of photography. By that, I mean that they are a perfect representation of that day and those people. When you look at these, the first impression that comes to you mind will probably be the right one. That day exuded love and life and I am so happy that I was there to be a part of it. So take in the feeling and emotions of the day as you look through this post. I hope it makes you feel happy :)
Take a gander at these ring shots- AMAZINGNESS. Thank you Jessica Cole, you are a wonderful assistant :)
One of my favorites of 2009…
I’m hoping for more of these in 2010- until next time,

Jowling
January 11, 2010I am currently working on a wedding I shot last week and today I came across some pictures that almost made me pee my pants. I’ve never worked with a group so willing to do pretty much anything I asked them to. When I asked the boys, “Do you know what jowling is?” they gave me a funny look and said, “No, enlighten us.” After I explained to them the art of jowling, they instantly understand and told me the name they had for it, which I have forgotten. Anywho, it only took one try for me to realize that these guys knew what they were doing. See for yourself, I’m sure you will LOL.
The Songer Wedding
June 19, 2009What an incredible couple Joe and Andrea are. I’ve taken many pictures that focus on connection and love but rarely do I come across relationships like this. I’ve known Joe for most of my life and Andrea part of my life. We went to high school together and I’ve seen their relationship sort of blossom over the years. Never did I think I would be their wedding photographer. But I’ve learned something since then: expect the unexpected.
I woke up the day of the wedding and was probably more excited than Andrea or Joe were. I knew that it was going to be a great day that focused on their love and their amazing companionship together. I gathered my gear together, picked up my assistant, and headed to the salon to meet Andrea.
She was STUNNING.

Here are some shots that Kayla (my wonderful assistant) took. Kayla has an amazing eye for details, and without her, there wouldn’t be shots like these. Kayla- I truly appreciate your time and talent! You’re the bomb!

Kayla and I left the girls to finish up and grabbed some lunch. Then we met them out at the church were Joe and Andrea were getting married. Most of the bridesmaids went to high school together and spent most of the day interacting like this. Such a fun group to be around!

Just a few finishing touches before we started the many hours of pictures, pictures, pictures, pictures!

First up: the Girls. It was probably 102° outside, which may not seem hot, but when you’ve been used to 70° weather in May and you are in thick dresses- IT’S HOTTER THAN HOT. Lucky for the girls, when we were done, they went back to the church and lounged around for about 2 hours.

I love this bridal of Andrea. She needed a little break, so I suggested taking a swing. Little did I know they would come to be my favorite shots of the day!

I sent them back and rounded up the boys to head to these really awesome rice silo’s. This was yet another favorite part of the day!

Once we wrapped up I headed back to the church to get some details shots which are below. I wanted to try something a little unconventional with the rings and found this neat idea from a photographer I follow. I also spent a lot of time at that candy table while everyone was eating. I love me some sour punch straws! :)

The wedding happened and there wasn’t a dry eye in the whole place. It was a beautiful ceremony but I would really be posting TOO MUCH if I posted them. I am already over my limit, aren’t I? So after the ceremony I took the entire bridal party to this beautiful house in the Sutter Buttes. How did we stumble upon this gem you ask? Well it’s actually a funny story. Joe, Andrea, and I were driving the week before scouting locations when we drove past this property. We decided to be brave and knock on the door and ask if we could borrow their beautiful land for the wedding. The lady was extremely accommodating and said we could pretty much take pictures wherever we would like! And so that is exactly what we did. :)

And now for the REAL beauties. I can’t even describe their connection. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

The night was wrapped up with a wonderful reception. It was extremely relaxed and just enjoyable. The perfect way to end the perfect day.

Doesn’t that just seem like a wedding you would want to attend? 100% enjoyable. 100% beautiful. 100% REAL.
Until next time…

-Josiah Michael.
